The Outstanding Blogger Award – My Turn!

I rarely take part in bookish tags, not because I don’t like them – I’m just never tagged or I can’t find them! 😂

But the lovely Leah over at Leah Kristin tagged me in the Outstanding Blogger Award tag and I’m really excited to be taking part. It sounds like a really interesting tag because it’s all about questions that change each time!

So let’s get into the questions that Leah came up with!

The Questions

What 3 GIFs would you use to sum up the last book you’ve read?
Oooh! I love gif challenges! When writing this, the last book I read was Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas. I adored it for multiple reasons, but here’s some gifs that I think would fit!

A favourite independent shop (book shop, Etsy shop etc.) and what you love about it?
For and Etsy shop I’m going to say BookBestiesUK – she makes booksleeves of extremely good quality and there are SO many designs to choose from, and ships worldwide. I’m also a rep for this small business so if you use code DARK10 you’ll get yourself a discount!

As for indie book shop…hmmm. I know I’m probably supposed to choose my ‘local’ indie – but I don’t have one. There’s only one dedicated bookstore in my county, and it’s a Waterstones – so not exactly indie. The closest is one in Edinburgh, but I’ve only been there once and I don’t feel like giving it the ‘favourite’ by default just because it’s closest to me. So I’m gonna give it to a different bookstore that I’ve only been to once – but you’ll understand when I say it’s Shakespeare and Co in Paris!

What’s your current non-bookish obsession?
Wait…we can have obsessions that aren’t book-related? Well I’m going steer clear of the usual cliche of saying ‘writing’ – even though it’s very much true. So here’s another truth – K-Pop! Particularly female idol groups!

What was the last show you watched?
Honestly, I don’t really watch shows anymore. I don’t remember the last time I watched TV in the traditional sense, and I usually watch movies on Netflix. I watch a lot of creators on YouTube though. I watch lots of shows like ‘How to survive [insert horror movie here]’ and similar sort of things. (PS, I have a YouTube channel too!)

Favourite winter snack/recipe?
Oooh, it’s got to be all the special types of hot chocolates that come out from all the coffee shops! I love hearing what new (or nostalgic) concoctions they come up with! I also pretty much associate winter with Christmas, so Yule log with my mum and nuts in the shell are other high favourites!

A book that you plan to re-read this year?
Ooh that’s a sneaky one considering there’s like 1 month left! 😂 I recently re-read In Paris With You by Clementine Beauvais but I’m going to hope to get to The Great Gatsby again before the year is out!

A movie that you’re excited for?
I’ve heard that we’re getting a Mortal Kombat reboot, so I’m super jazzed for that! I’ve also heard that there’s a Jackass 4 coming, and Venom 2! (Can you tell that I like cheese and trash?)

Most recent 5 star read and something awesome about that book?
Technically it was my re-read of In Paris With You by Clementine Beauvais but I’ll cheat and say it was Sunstone Vol. 3 by Stjepan Šejić. Sunstone is a graphic novel series that is all about BDSM and also a couple of blossoming romances. I love that it is sex-positive, shows an actual understanding of the BDSM community (unlike the 50 shades of bullshit series) and on top of that there’s gorgeous artwork and amazing dialogue. Best way to sum it up: it’s a mature story for immature people. I love it.

My Questions
