Bookish Goals for 2021

HAPPY NEW YEAR! It better be! 😅
Well, 2020 was a shitshow – there’s no getting around that. But it wasn’t all bad, I managed to get a few of my bookish goals accomplished. But I’m constantly looking forwards and I’ve got a couple of bookish goals for 2021!

So, it’s January 1st 2021 and the pandemic is still, unfortunately, rampant – especially here in the UK. So instead of setting up a bunch of goals that could easily be dashed by the pandemic, quarantining and lockdown, I want to create some goals that don’t rely on going outside all that much. That means my ‘Becoming Katniss‘ goal from 2020 won’t reappear on my list for 2021 straight away. If and when the pandemic is over and I can safely take part in outdoor activities again, I’ll look for pick that one back up, but for now, here (in no particular order) are my main bookish goals for 2021.

I’d like to get my YouTube channel up to 500 subscribers!

This was one of my goals for 2020, and unfortunately, it was one I didn’t achieve. I ended 2020 on about 252 subscribers, which I’m still happy with but it’s only half of my goal.

I put a lot of effort into my videos and I don’t just do wrap-ups and unboxings. I’ve got a load of plans for 2021 so I hope you join me for it! You can subscribe to my YouTube channel here!

Here are some of my favourite videos (to date) to give you an idea of what my channel is about!

Read 100 books!

Wait, only 100? But your 2020 goal was 140 and you managed it – why 100? Well, two reasons. Firstly, the pandemic caused all kinds of hell for me (and everyone else), and if it’s going to continue then I’d like to reduce the pressure on myself.
Secondly, I want to focus a bit more on writing, and I can’t do that if I’m constantly reading.

Write more short stories!

You might not know, but I write. Not much, and nothing great, but I do write. Late in 2020 I started publishing some short stories to this blog. I think there’s only a couple on there right now, but I’m aiming to publish a lot more! So if that’s your thing be sure to check back here every now and then!

I’m also looking to finish my first novel in 2021!

I’d like to get 500 followers on this blog!

In 2020, I aimed for 200 followers, and I’m so happy to say that I managed that! Now I want to be a lil bit more ambitious!

Last year I had to cut my wordpress plan as it wasn’t financially viable for me, and I was worried that this would mean that I’d lose followers. But I worked really hard on upping my content releases, as well as working hard on my content, and it feels great to see more followers.

I’ve got lots of plans (as usual) for next year, so if you’re not following me but are interested, I’d love if you tap that follow button!

Be way more active

I’d like to think that I’m fairly active across my socials, and of course I’m a huge advocate for mental health, so if breaks are needed, breaks should be taken. But I want to put more of an effort in to commenting. Whether that’s on instagram, replying to tweets and commenting on yotube vidoes and posts on peopels blogs.

I consume a lot of content, and I don’t really comment all too much. And I wanna change that, especially as I know how good it feels to have someone comment on my content. So I want to really work hard and commenting on as much as possible on the content I consume. I mean, it’s not hard to drop a comment, no matter how short, on something I consumed, so I’m gonna aim to do it so much more!

And those are my bookish goals for 2021 so far – if the pandemic goes away I might revisit these, but I reckon they’re pretty reasonable for now!

What are some of your bookish goals for 2021?
